The summer is, historically, not a time known for an exorbitant amount of video game releases. Thus, it is an ideal time to catch up on those titles long ago lost in the sea of intellectual properties that is the holiday season, or, as is the case with the 8-bit Summer being kicked off this week on the 3DS eShop, an ideal time to catch up on those titles long ago lost in the sea of intellectual properties that is the 21st Century. In accordance with the occasion, Nintendo has released The Legend of Zelda and NES: Open Tournament Golf, two classic NES games that were made available last year for 3DS Ambassadors, on the storefront for all users to enjoy.
For those intent on looking towards the future, the demo for Heroes of Ruin has also been released on the 3DS eShop alongside Family Tennis 3D, a digital-only game highlighting one of the many sports of summer with eight characters, six courts, and plenty of mini-games. Rounding out this week’s releases are Akari by Nikoli (3DS), Topoloco (3DS, DSi), 3, 2, 1…WordsUp! (3DS, DSi), Let’s Create! Pottery (Wii), 2020 Super Baseball (Wii).
This week’s game of the week, a regular feature that discounts a preexisting title on the marketplace, is Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword. Players can take advantage of the reduced $4.99 price tag until 9 PM PST on Sunday, July 8.
All releases featured in the Nintendo Download Update are available now for the Nintendo 3DS, DSi, or Wii.
