God of War Franchise Sells Millions
So if you haven’t heard of this series yet, its time to get past that parol board that seems to be keeping you in your own personal prison. As of May 30th, the God of War Franchise has officially topped 21 million units sold world wide. So, if you do the very rough math, that officially that their sales figures are roughly 1 billion dollars.
The original game was released in 2005 from the team at Sony Santa Monica.
“We at Sony Santa Monica Studios thrive on delivering fantastic gaming experiences to the community and to our fans across the world,” said Shannon Studstill, Sr. Director of Product Development, Sony Santa Monica Studio. “We are extremely proud to have hit this incredible milestone, and owe a large part of it to our fans for all of their support throughout these years.”
Over the course of its lifetime, they were able to release seven titles of this series and with another one on the way, we might just see this number hit 30 million in the next year or so. With titles released on the PS2, PS3, and the PSP; God of War has slashed its way into the hearts and bloodlusting minds of many. Not only that, they have won multiple awards for its story, gameplay and overall design from countless outlets.
As you can see in the figures below, The U.S. has purchased the majority of these titles with Japan scratching the surface of the overall sales. It is quite possible that it is tough for that market to relate to the storyline because of its mythology.
