In recent weeks, Valve has continuously affirmed its lack of surprising announcements at this year’s E3. While they may not be taking part in the show’s most exciting aspect, the Washington-based developer has created buzz with a previously announced title, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, that they have given an official release date of August 21, 2012.
With new characters, maps, weapons, and updates to such iconic Counter-Strike maps as de_dust, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is sure to be a fitting successor to one of the industry’s most enduring titles. Also included will be such modern tropes as matchmaking, leaderboards, and new modes set to take the experience beyond its expected trajectory.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be making its playable debut at E3 in the Microsoft and Sony booths before launching on August 21 on the PlayStation Network, Steam, and Xbox Live Arcade.
