EA Predicts Germany Winner of UEFA EURO 2012

by on May 31, 2012

According to the EA SPORTS UEFA EURO 2012 video game simulation, the winner of the UEFA EURO 2012 soccer tournament will be Germany.

Germany met rival Netherlands in the final, which is actually a repeat of the EURO 1988 final. In the simulation final, The Germans fell behind 1-0 after Robin van Persie struck home a left-footed shot from just outside the box in the 24th minute. Van Persie finished as the tournament’s top goal scorer with five goals. However, the Dutch lead did not last long as Mesut Özil leveled the score at 1-1, 12 minutes later. In the 78th minute, Mario Gómez went high into the air between two Dutch defenders on a corner kick by Bastian Schweinsteiger to knock home his fourth goal of the campaign, and the eventual winner of Germany´s fourth UEFA EURO championship.

EA SPORTS has correctly predicted the winners of the 2012 FA Cup, the 2010 World Cup, and using the Madden NFL series, they have correctly predicted seven out of the last nine Superbowl winners.

EA SPORTS UEFA EURO 2012 is available now as a digital expansion pack to EA SPORTS FIFA 12. The expansion pack costs $24.99 and can be downloaded on Xbox LIVE, PSN, or PC.

UEFA EURO 2012, the soccer tournament, begins on June 8, 2012 and ends on July 1, 2012. 16 teams will compete to become Champions of Europe and win a place in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup as well. In the United States, the entire tournament can be seen on the ESPN family of networks.

I would be very surprised if Spain did not win EURO 2012, they still have the most complete team in the tournament. Netherlands and Germany have very suspect defenses, Portugal is still all Ronaldo. Italy might be the only other “complete” team in the bunch. As England players keep dropping like flies and France is well… France weird ever since World Cup 2006.
