Prototype 2 Tops April NPD Charts

It looks like the economy is starting to impact the games industry more.

The April NPD numbers show a 32 percent decrease in April compared to 2011. Overall, the industry earned about $630.4 million this year.

Hardware sales were at $189.7 million, down 32 percent, while software sales made $292.1 million, down 42 percent. Meanwhile, accessories increased 1 percent from last year, making $148.6 million.

Microsoft stated that the 360 sold 236,000 units in April.

Leading the top 10 list for titles was Prototype 2, with Kinect Star Wars taking second. The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, which released for 360 last month, took sixth.
