Having launched last fall, you might be excused for having not recently booted up your copy of Battlefield 3. This weekend, though, all excuses are tossed out the window as DICE’s highly-touted shooter will play host to its first Double XP Weekend.
The Battlefield 3 Double XP Weekend is as self-explanatory as it sounds: players will now, after completing multiplayer matches, earn double the amount of experience points that they would ordinarily receive. A faster earning rate means that those playing the game on PC, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live will advance in rank at a pace that far outranks earlier efforts.
Battlefield 3 Double XP Weekend begins on May 12 at 12:01 AM PST and ends on May 13 at 11:59 PM PST. After that, the point total distributed at the end of each multiplayer contest will return to its natural rate. No further dates for this event have been announced so it might be in one’s best interest to suit up and set course for a weekend filled with guns, squads, and, my personal favorite pastime, being shot in the back by a mouthy 12 year old.
