Persona 4 Arena is an oddity even by ATLUS standards; the title, which bears the name of the most popular Shin Megami Tensei franchise, is a fighting game that pits popular characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4 against one another in a variety of familiar settings. Both of those games belong to the role-playing genre, a fact that makes a brief tutorial explaining this new title’s function seem all the more necessary.

In this first tutorial video, the basic controls and skills of Persona 4 Arena are highlighted. It appears that the title controls as any rational individual might expect a fighting game to be handled, but, at the same time, it has a unique style that is very rarely seen outside of eastern role-playing games.

Persona 4 Arena will launch this summer for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
