Square-Enix announces Dragon Quest X Wii Release Date For Japan
Square Enix announced today a release date for the Wii version of their MMO Dragon Quest X (Rise of the Five Tribes Online) in Japan. The Wii title will release on August 2, 2012 and the game by itself will be priced at ¥6,980 ($86.00 USD) and at ¥8,980 ($111.00 USD) when bundled with a USB Memory card.
Anyone who chooses the non-bundled version will have to provide his or her own USB memory card with at least 16 GB. A reason for the higher price may be the game’s second disc. As of this moment, Square-Enix has not provided information on what is on the second disc.
Players can create up to three characters, but as with most MMO’s, they do have to pay a service charge to play the game. Charges run ¥1,000 ($12.00 USD,) ¥1,950 ($24.00 USD,) or ¥2,900 ($36.00 USD) for 30, 60, and 90 days play respectively (Payment can be made via credit card using standard currency, or via WiiPoints. WiiPoint pricing is the same.)
Both the standard and bundle versions of the game will come with 20 days of free playtime. Square-Enix is also planning to host special “Kids Times” for the game. These periods will be free to play. Square-Enix says that although they will not be setting a specific age limit for these periods, they are meant for children.
Dragon Quest X will also be released on the Wii U and have cross platform play with the Wii version. Square-Enix also promises there will be 3DS connectivity as well.
