Skype announced this morning that their video and voice calling app is now available for the PlayStation Vita.

The app will let PS Vita owners make free Skype calls via the handheld either via 3G or Wi-Fi. Users in Europe and Asia will have to wait until tomorrow however, for the app to become available.

Aside from free Skype-to-Skype voice/video calling, the app will also be able to run in “background mode” which allows users to pause a game, make a call, and then go back to playing.

The app should be downloadable either by the time you read this or later today.
