UPDATED: New Valve Hardware On the Way?
Is Valve going to be entering into the console wars? There’s no way of knowing for sure yet, but it certainly looks like Valve’s got its eyes set on hardware development of some kind.
According to Joystiq, a Valve job listing was discovered that discloses Valve’s hunt for an “electronics engineer” who would “work with the hardware team to conceive, design, evaluate, and produce new types of input, output, and platform hardware.” Perhaps this could be the Steam-powered console people have been talking about for months, or maybe some other type of peripheral…whichever way it goes, it looks like Valve’s got its sights set on new territory.
UPDATE: According to Gameranx.com the new hardware Valve is working on is a “wearable computer,” a technology which would overlay the computers graphics with the real world. This seems to be a popular research topic, given Google’s Project Glass AR glasses and other research into AR technology. More information can be found at the link above.

As much as I want it to be real…I think its way too early for the consumer market to have a product like that. But I do think that we’ll be heading off into that direction.
