During a panel at PAX East, Gearbox revealed a possible new playable class to Borderlands 2. The class will be called the “Mechromancer,” but Gearbox says it is an idea for now.

The plan is to release the class as DLC two or three months after Borderlands 2 releases. They will also release a compatibility update so that online players can play with players that do not have the Mechoromancer.

Gearbox says they will make the Mechromancer available as a free download to anyone that pre-orders Borderlands 2, “as a special thank you.” The Mechromancer will also be available as DLC to those that decide to buy the game later. No pricing details have been released yet for the item.
