Remedy CEO Impressed by Max Payne 3, Calls it “f***ing brilliant”

At this past weekend’s PAX East convention, Rockstar made available the first ever public demo of Max Payne 3. As the official Got Game correspondent on the show floor, I was honored with a chance to play the game in advance of its May 15 release; it was amazing. Apparently, I was not alone in expressing this sentiment as Remedy CEO Matias Myllyrinne referred to the hotly anticipated title as “f***ing brilliant.”

“It’s f***ing brilliant. I’ve had a chance to play it and we’ve worked with Rockstar a little bit – obviously, they’re doing the heavy lifting. They’re doing the development. But they wanted our input on a couple of occasions and we’ve had loads of our people, our core group, who worked on the first two games, give input and it’s awesome.

Those guys, they just don’t put out bad games. And so, in that respect, it’s very – it’s almost like the best position to be in. It’s like somebody’s making a great game and you just get to give them input, and it’s already brilliant so I’ve enjoyed it,” he said. “I can’t obviously – I don’t want to give any spoilers and can’t give out any spoilers, but it’s a testament to their attention to detail and it’s a testament to their passion and dedication. It’ll be worth the wait.”

Myllyrinne’s praise comes as even more of a rousing endorsement considering Remedy’s history developing the franchise; my endorsement, though similar in phrasing, seems greatly diminished in his shadow. You can join in on the positive reception when Max Payne 3 launches in North America on May 15.
