Fans of Ninja Gaiden I or Ninja Gaiden II, or even the earlier generation games are mad because they just went off and made something that is not Ninja Gaiden. It has Ryu Hayabusa in it and the name on the cover, but strips away everything about Ninja Gaiden and makes it into this story driven, easy as pie game. Ninja Gaiden is difficult because it takes thought and precise timing to master it.

I am all for trying to make a game reach the masses, which they are obviously trying to do here. However, it would have better served them to call this Ninja Gaiden with a silly subhead and not try to pass this off as the next iteration of the franchise (Ninja Gaiden 3,) because it is not. It takes nothing of what made Ninja Gaiden a favorite gamers franchise (except the main character and the fact that he slices and dices) and said hey “this is the new Ninja Gaiden.” It kinda of insults the series fan’s intelligence.
