Samurai Guitarists, Blackjack, and Carmen Sandiego Headline March 22 Nintendo Download

This week’s edition of the Nintendo Download poses an important question: is there any idea better or more suitable to the video game industry than a samurai guitarist? The answer is no, undoubtedly. That’s the core philosophy being implemented by UFO Interactive Games in Zombie Slayer Diox, their downloadable effort made exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Diox is a rhythm-action game jam-packed with side-scrolling action taking place in a time following the inevitable zombie takeover of the world.

1st Class Poker & Blackjack, the other title representing portable systems in this week’s Nintendo Download, plays it a little safer with a competent collection of poker, blackjack, and video poker in such forms as Texas Hold’em, Double-Flop Hold’em, Omaha, and Pineapple; it can be purchased for either the Nintendo 3DS or DSi.

Rounding out the list of new game releases this week is Carmen Sandiego Adventures in Math: The Island of Diamonds. The name likely tells you all that you need to know: math is heavily featured as is a mysterious woman in a red cap. This latest educational pursuit out of Mrs. Sandiego is only available for the Nintendo Wii.

The eShop will be on the receiving end of more than just games this week, though. Artist Wale is starting off a series of music videos available on the Nintendo eShop with his song “Sabotage.” On a more visual front, owners of the free Swapnote app for 3DS can now receive a note bearing the likeness of Uggie, Nintendo’s chief spokesdog responsible for videos promoting nintendogs + cats for the Nintendo 3DS.
