Street Fighter X Tekken Is Fun, But It Isn’t Going To Be Cheap
Putting the extra in “extra costs!”: Game Rant
Chris says: Capcom released a list of upcoming DLC for SFXT. On April 3rd, gamers can download alternate character costumes that allow Street Fighter characters to dress up as Tekken characters and vice versa. Each costume costs $1 or 80 MS Points or gamers can get a complete set of costumes for either team $13.00 or 1040 MS Points.
JDL says: Wait, so the costumes let them dress like characters from the opposite side’s franchise?
Chris says: If you need to know how it works, my God, look at the title image man!
JDL says: A bear as R. Mika! So much for aiming for resemblances! What else is there?
Chris says: There’s also FREE downloadable content that’ll come out on April 3. Three free Color Packs will be released to use with the character customizer, each pack adding four colors to the customizer. There’ll also be a free Tournament Update which changes how ability gems are a ton of new Gems, split into three Assist Gem Packs and six Boost Gem Packs along with a free downloadable Replay Analyzer.
JDL says: Ironically, all the free stuff is stuff I’d be willing to pay money for, while the costumes sound kind of derpy. What else they got?
Chris says: Last but not least, 12 more characters available on PS3 and Xbox 360, once Street Fighter X Tekken is available on the PS Vita. Twenty dollars or 1600 MS Points will net you all 12 characters.
JDL says: Aye. I still can’t see why people are getting mad about the characters costing extra.
Chris says: Of course YOU don’t understand! You got Street Fighter X Tekken for free!
JDL says: Yeah, by trading in that heap of shovelware we’ve accumulated over last year —
Chris says: Hah! Like we’d ever play Wii Big Moose Hunter 36!
JDL says: So, I’m still going to have to pay for the DLC.
Chris says: Not if you trade in more shovelware.
Hackers Using Street Fighter X Tekken DLC Characters Before Proper Release
You jelly?: Cinema Blend
JDL says: I haven’t made my way to ranked matches yet in Street Fighter X Tekken, but it seems there’ve been some shady guys already (and brazenly, I might add!) using the on disc DLC characters to win ranked matches! Capcom is naturally pissed and they want these guys banned, recruiting gamers to help in catching them.
Senior Vice President Christian Svensson had this to say over at the Capcom Unity forums: “Yes, we’re seeing news of this. Quite ballsy for folks to be taking hacked Xbox 360s on Live where they are detectable. In any event, we already have openned channels of communication with MS on these issues Friday night. If you can capture screens or video of this in action (as some have already) we’re working on bans for boxes and accounts with MS for haxxors.
I’ll leave this thread open for people to post pics/vids and the like and we’ll bring them to MS (as we have the last three that were reported to us).”
Chris says: Great! If we snitch on any of these hackers, maybe we can get some DLC characters or downloads for our troubles!
JDL says: Man, I don’t even know how to take screencaps or videos — and there was nothing mentioned about a reward either.
Chris says: So these hackers have stolen into Capcom’s disc, rescued the precious DLC and now they want gamers to help catch the hackers, without giving them anything in return?
JDL says: That’s called good business tactics, man.
Chris says: It’s also called “appealing to people’s natural urge to be a snitching prick,” so they won’t expect anything in return.
Shenmue HD Good To Go, Ready For PSN and XBLA
Complete freedom in HD: PSX Extreme
Chris says: Well, we won’t be getting Shenmue 3 anytime soon, but gamers will have Shenmue HD to look forward to. A secret source within Sega, possibly a ninja, has said that “Shenmue HD is real (As is Shenmue II).” In fact, Shenmue in HD has been complete for more than a year. So why hasn’t Sega released this gaming classic? Our stealth ninja on in the inside said that Sega wanted “a clearer picture of the future for the Shenmue franchise, namely, whether or not Shenmue III will ever see the light of day.”
JDL says: I was never a fan of Shenmue, so I’m not too thrilled. Shenmue is the reason that we have so many forced quick time events (well, Sword of The Berserk is also to blame) and side quests like collecting Ultimate Muscle figures in our sandbox and action games.
Chris says: I loved Ultimate Muscle, baby!
JDL says: Look, I’m all for a game having other things to do besides whatever is included in the main quest, but being able to take care of a pet kitten and play After Burner in a game that’s supposed to be about avenging your father’s death at the hands of some douche is kind of narmy. Just sayin’.
Chris says: You know, you seem to know a lot about Shenmue for someone who hates the game so much.
Phil Harrison Is A Part Of Team Xbox
It only switches sides!: Computer and Video Game
Chris says: This guy’s a real card. Phil Harrison, the Sony guy with the rubber ducks a few years back, has jumped ship and switched from Sony to Atari to an investment company all the way to Microsoft. This guy really gets around!
JDL says: Wow, this guy really knows how to network.
Chris says: Uncle Phil was with Sony 15 plus years working on PlayStations 1-3 and introduction some of the company’s killer apps like LittleBigPlanet and Home.
The man, the myth, the legend had this to say about the move: “I am excited to be joining the senior team at Microsoft at a pivotal time for our industry. I am really impressed with the company’s long-term vision for growing the market for interactive entertainment globally and also with the incredible wealth of talent, technology and resources the company has available to succeed.”
One of the big shots at Microsoft, Phil Spencer had some nice words for Phil #1. Other Phil said that it was Phil #1’s experience that made him such a good fit for the company.
On behalf of myself and JDL, welcome to the right game company, Phil!
(JDL facepalms)
Well, that’s it for us, JDL and Chris are going to go argue on a forum that Street Fighter IS better than Tekken. ‘Til next week, be good!
Comments:
Phil doesn’t play around…or wait, yeah he does…it’s gaming!
