Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City already has a lot going for it as an entry into the popular franchise taking place between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Today it was revealed that it will have yet another factor working in its favor: free, post-release downloadable content in the form of a Spec-Ops mission.

This new mode forces players into the role of a Spec-Ops team member working to uncover the secret behind the virus outbreak plaguing the notorious Raccoon City. Doing so puts the operative in direct contention with the Umbrella Security Service, hordes of zombies, and B.O.W.’s that must be battled through in order to achieve completion. That’s not all, though, as fans should be delighted to see that this particular mission allows them to relive the moment when Jill Valentine first made acquaintance with Nemesis.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City will launch for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 20 with this batch of DLC coming not far behind on April 10. PC players will have to wait until May 18 to partake in this trip down a very dreary memory lane.
