Skyrim, Portal Win Big at Game Developers Choice Awards
Millions have delved into the world of Tamriel since November 11, 2011, but at Wednesday’s Game Developers Choice Awards, Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim only picked up one award.
That one award, though, was 2011’s Game of the Year award, capping off the award ceremony at the 2012 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA. GlaDOS’s snarky programming helped Valve pick up three awards for Portal 2, for Best Narrative, as well as Best Audio and Best Game design. Bastion picked up two awards for Best Debut and Best Downloadable Game for Supergiant Games, especially amazing due to the fact that the indy developer consists of exactly seven people.
“This year brought us some wonderfully crafted bigger titles like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Portal 2 and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, along with standout independent games like Bastion and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP,” said Meggan Scavio, General Manager of the Game Developers Conference. “2011 was an incredible year for games, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these talented developers as the industry continues to grow and shift.”
