National Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Tournament Kicks off at San Francisco Gamestop

Late last month, Nintendo revealed that the highly anticipated Kid Icarus: Uprising, a sequel to the classic Nintendo Entertainment System game for the Nintendo 3DS, would launch following the completion of a nationwide tournament held to determine the country’s best competitor in the game’s competitive multiplayer mode. Details released today out the first location for Kid Icarus enthusiasts to battle it out: San Francisco.

This Thursday, March 8, the Gamestop located at 151 Powell Street, Suite 4 will play host to one of the many Kid Icarus: Uprising tournaments occurring across the nation. Three winners in the San Francisco area will eventually face off against winners from the other regions in the finals at a New York City Gamestop for a variety of prizes based on the iconic Nintendo character’s likeness.

Recreational play will be allowed to player in the San Francisco beginning at 10:30 am this Thursday in order to give players some time with the game before competing in the tournament at 6:00 pm that very evening.

    I’m curious to see how well this game handles. I’m looking forward to it, but I’d rather not be (essentially) required to use a stand just to play the game. Hopefully the game will be good enough to fight through the hand cramps that it seems I’ll inevitably get.
