Kid Icarus: Uprising Rises Amid National Multiplayer Tournament

Kid Icarus: Uprising was the first game shown on the Nintendo 3DS that convinced the gaming masses to hop on the stereoscopic, three-dimensional bandwagon. It has been almost two years since the game’s first showing at E3 and we are still anticipating the ultimate release of Uprising on March 23. Perhaps as a consolation for the extended wait, Nintendo is celebrating the release of Kid Icarus: Uprising with a national multiplayer tournament culminating in a finale at the Gamestop on 84th and Broadway in New York City, New York.

Nintendo will be hosting the multiplayer tournament at various Gamestops scattered around the Los Angeles, Orlando, New York, and San Francisco regions. Winners from each region will be determined locally and awarded an assortment of prizes that may include an expenses-paid trip to New York coinciding with the tournament finals and Kid Icarus: Uprising’s launch on March 23. Those in attendance at the finals will be offered a special presale opportunity that allows them to walk away with a copy of Uprising one day before its release.

To see how Kid Icarus: Uprising’s multiplayer stacks up to the competition, check out our very own Ramon Aranda’s preview.
