Free-to-play is a practice that is becoming more widely adapted among the biggest players of the industry today including EA, Sony, and Valve. Blizzard, a publisher best known for such soul-sapping entities as Starcraft and World of Warcraft, is set to be the next major company to hop on the priceless bandwagon.
Rumors today, sparked by statements made at last year’s Blizzcon by Blizzard COO Paul Sams, cited rumblings from Blizzard that a future product will implement the now popular free-to-play model. Only moments later, the company confirmed that their upcoming product, Blizzard DotA, would become their first free-to-play game.
The possibility still exists that other titles out of Blizzard could sport free-to-play, but, for now, Blizzard DotA will have to satiate your hunger for cheap, quality gaming.
