Pokemon producer Junichi Masuda revealed today via GameFreak that he will be making a big announcement as it pertains to the Pokemon series this Sunday in Japan, which means Saturday here in the U.S.

In a post, Masuda wrote:

On this coming Sunday, Februrary 26, 2012, from 7:30 A.M, I, Masuda, will be appearing on TV TOKYO’s Show, “Pokemon Smash!” Not only that. And there… I will be making a VERY important announcement,so be sure not to miss it!! Watch it live on TV!

No other details were given but one can assume we may hear about the next iteration in the series for either the DS, or perhaps the Nintendo 3DS.
