BioShock Infinite Going to Party Like Its 1999

The folks over at Irrational Games want you to enjoy your gaming experience when you get your hands on the highly anticipated BioShock Infinite. Then after you enjoy it, they want you to go back and suffer your way through a painfully difficult and challenging experience that will make you long for the old days of just dying occasionally.

The game mode, called “1999 Mode” in reference to Irrational’s old System Shock series, is aimed at the most hardcore of gamers. Based on an online survey that revealed gamers wanted some more challenge and dedication to their character. Players will be locked into their decisions and be made to pick specializations and focus on them. That’s right, you’re actually being held accountable for your actions. Seems scary, right?

    I thought you were already held accountable for your decisions in video games?

      Yes and no. In a lot of games you can pretty easily change your path, very little is definite. Even in games with the “good and evil” aspect, you can change your fate with excessive behavior one way or another.
