Hey everyone that wants a next gen system to show up at E3 this year: Stop it. Sony already put to bed rumors of a PS4 showing up this year, and now Microsoft is doing the same in regards to a new Xbox. Microsoft’s senior director of marketing and public relations Jose Pinero basically said everything but “we’re not bringing a new Xbox to E3, leave us alone.”
What is actually said was, “launching Kinect a little bit over a year ago, what we saw was a resurgence in the 360.” He also mentions the new dashboard and UI is “like having a new console.” He then continued on to say “We want that box to be the ultimate entertainment device in your house, giving you games, movies, tv shows, music, sports, and all kinds of entertainment.”
So, yeah. Microsoft really wants the Xbox to be a media device, which is what they told us at E3 2011. And now they’re telling us in regards to E3 2012. That’s consistency.
