Slim pickings this week for those eying new video game releases. Big titles may be fielding some DLC, but a tame few days lie ahead.
Perhaps the most intriguing (at first) release is Amy, a survival horror experience in which our heroine must keep herself – as well as the eponymous Amy – alive against a suddenly-generated and supernatural threat. Sadly, critical reception has been brutal. If your interest is somehow still piqued (2 out of 10… wow), check out a recent trailer of the XBLA and PSN title. Amy opens on January 17th.
To speed away from all that, Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition releases on the same day. For $39.99, you’ll get the original game from late 2010, fully updated and bundled with a voucher for over $20 of DLC. Check out the PlayStation Blog for more.
Gears of War 3 celebrates its third DLC release, a $10 package offering five new maps and the option to reset one’s level in exchange for purty esthetic flourishes – and the ability to broadcast “I’ve played this game a lot” without words. January 17th is again the special day.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is bringing in its own update – a first for the MMORPG that launched in December. “Rise of the Rakghouls” expands upon a few of the game’s instances, and throws in some anti-aliasing and PvP tweaks for good measure. When is this update hitting? Together now: January 17th.
