The least secret secret of all time, that Microsoft will be offering streaming TV subscriptions on the Xbox 360, is on hold for the time being. Despite all the infrastructure being in place to make the streams happen, when Microsoft was presented with the cost of delivering the content they walked away. Because they don’t have that kind of money. Oh wait, they’re Microsoft.

According to one executive, who was involved in the meeting, “They built Microsoft TV, they demoed it for us, they asked for rate cards but then said ‘ooh ah, that’s expensive.'” So don’t expect the full stream of TV on your Xbox any time soon until Microsoft finds the money to pay for it. Or expect to pay a s***-ton more for the service.
