Cops Using Xbox Consoles to Catch Crooks
You know some of those kids on Xbox Live that call you terrible names and tell you how bad you are at a video game? Well, some of them might be cops. That would explain their foul mouth and impressively strong vocabulary of curse words.
According to a report from Ars Technica, leaked communications from a digital forensics mailing list shows how authorities are working with Microsoft to catch criminals with Xbox 360s. So be careful who you call a noob from now on.
Microsoft has helped cops learn how to record gameplay footage for reference and evidence, scan hard drives for incriminating information, and track IP and billing logs. So somewhere right now, a cop is getting paid to eat donuts and play Call of Duty.
