In a settlement to a court case dating back to 2009, Bethesda Softworks has regained the rights to making a (totally hypothetical and unannounced) MMO based on the Fallout universe. Interplay Entertainment, the defendant in the case, lost on the grounds that it had not met either of the two terms originally set regarding a Fallout MMO: 1) that they would garner $30 million in financing for the project, and 2) that they would undertake it by April of 2009.
Might a Fallout MMO be in the pipeline, or is Bethesda merely protecting their intellectual property? What of the dated promise, on Interplay Entertainment’s behalf, of an actual game?
Either way, Fallout fans will get their fix this February 7th, with the DLC-stuffed release of Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition.
