When you say platformer, most gamers immediately think about Super Mario Bros. Fortunately for Nintendo 3DS owners, the Big-N dropped Super Mario 3D Land.
The game took elements from the DS’ New Super Mario Bros. and molded it with ingredients of Super Mario Galaxy to make this one of the better Mario games in years.
Surely when Mario is around, it’s tough to beat him at his game and certainly this was a landslide. That doesn’t mean there weren’t other formidable games and to be honest, we feel the necessity of mentioning that Ubisoft’s Rayman Origins was a fantastic game. It’s not one that seems to be doing big sales numbers for gamers who didn’t give it a try, please do so…it’s that good.
However Mario takes the cake and with another solid outing that included easy-to-pick-up-and-play controls, a cool soundtrack, and a nice looking art style, Super Mario 3D Land stands above the rest.
