2011 may go down as one of the best years of top notch shooters.
We had the epic showdown between powerhouse franchises Call of Duty and Battlefield, the quality Resistance 3 and military shooter SOCOM 4, but one shooter stood above the rest:
Gears of War 3.
The game seriously had it all. A lengthy campaign, a fantastic storyline, speaker-busting audio, grade-A graphics and excellent controls.
Who can forget the gut-wrenching twist the story took midway through? And while COD and BF3 have outstanding multiplayer modes in their own right, Gears of War 3 included plenty of variety and the return of the popular Horde Mode.
While hardcore gamers may find themselves playing the aforementioned military shooters for a longer period of time, Gears 3 had the best overall package.
In a word, it was “Epic” (pun intended).
