This might be the strangest way for information to come out ever, but at least we got good news out of it. There’s been a long-running meme on 4chan and Reddit that involves e-mailing Valve’s Gabe Newell ridiculous things and sharing his usually hilarious response. Well, the /v/ board on 4Chan decided to send him a completely nonsensical email that read as vaguely angry. Gabe’s response was to tell them what they want to here: “We’re announcing all your favorite things at E3 2012.” He later clarified in a follow up email from a Redditor that they will be announcing “something with a three in it.”

While this is excellent news regardless of what Valve series you’re a fan of, it does mean there are a lot of options. Half-Life 2 players have been waiting for a third episode to be added to the game. Half-Life fans as a whole would love for a third installment of the series as a whole. All the zombie killer fans of the Left 4 Dead series wants to see a new version of the horde survival game. Then there’s the beloved Portal series. Oh, and don’t forget the many hats that could be expanded on with a third Team Fortress.
