Here’s some news that isn’t really news: A lot of people bought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Here’s some actual news: The game has pulled in $1 billion in sales. That’s right, $1 billion–with a “b.” The type of number an evil genius would set as ransom before destroying something beloved.

The most impressive thing accompanying this feat is the speed at which it was achieved. It took 16 days for the game to tally its billionth dollar, defeating Avatar‘s record of 17 days.

The sales have came from the 30 million players that purchased the game, and the 6 million of them that are subscribed to the Call of Duty Elite service. The only real question this raises: Where do they keep finding new people to buy their game? My guess is children. Little babies shooting people. Adorably frightening.
