Vietnam’s First Video Game

Yes, it’s the obvious hint towards the movie Good Morning Vietnam! It’s probably been overdone but I’m doing it again because this is the first game made by a developer in Vietnam.

Emobi Games – the Vietnamese developer – just announced their first title, dubbed “7554”. This stands for a specific date, 7 May 1954, particularly special because it is the day that the French army in Dien Bien Phu, Vietnam surrendered to the Vietnam People’s Army, thereby withdrawing occupation of all Indochinese colonies. During said game you play as a member of the Vietnam People’s Army.

This game is single-player and for PC only. 7554 launches in the US and France in February of next year and will have a retail price of only twelve dollars. Hopefully this game can compete with other big name military games such as BF3 and CoD. What do you all think? Does this game stand a chance or is it dead in the water? Leave a comment below.
