Hey, here’s a big surprise: a lot of people are playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. So many, in fact, that the game has set a new Xbox Live record for most concurrent players on the online service.

So who did Modern Warfare 3 knock out of the top spot? Call of Duty: Black Ops of course, who previously held the record with 2.6 million playing concurrently. Black Ops had dethroned Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which sat at 2 million players. Does anyone sense a trend?

No official number has been released for how many MW3 players were on at the same time, but I’m willing to bet it also set the record for most 12 year olds simultaneously using the word “douchebag.”
