Justin Verlander Named Cover Athlete for MLB 2k12
After a career year for Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander during which he won the Pitching Triple Crown (lead the league in Wins, ERA, and Strikeouts), posted a 24-5 record, was acknowledged by his fellow players as the MLBPA Player’s Choice Award winner, is the heavy favorite for the AL Cy Young Award, and has a shot at taking home the Most Valuable Player title, he finally got the biggest honor any athlete could ask for: being on the cover of a video game.
The 2K Sports team made the choice to place Justin Verlander on MLB 2k12 after his unbelievable season. “It’s a dream come true to be on the cover of Major League Baseball 2K12,” Verlander said in a press release. Oddly, the release had nothing to do with the upcoming game from 2k Sports but was rather just a listing of things Verlander has dreamed of accomplishing. Included in the presser was becoming a member of the Ghostbusters, swimming in a pool of jello, and seeing the world’s largest ball of twine. Best of luck in your endeavors, Justin.
