Playstation 3 Hacked Again?
Rumors are flying that despite Sony’s best efforts and most recent anti-piracy protection, the Playstation 3 may have been hacked again. The supposed hack has come in the form of “JB2,” a predecessor to the PSJailbreak hack. For as clever has hackers are, they aren’t great at cleverly naming things.
The hack works similarly to the original, which requires a USB drive that runs the hack and compromises the PS3 system so that the Jailbreak boot up runs. This allows gamers to run burned copies of games that have been released since Sony’s 3.60 firmware update. Anything released prior to that can run straight from the hard drive. So if you’re looking to play old games, you can save your blank Blu-rays for burning really high quality mix tapes with 1080p visuals.
It’s still unknown if this hack is even real, but if it is this would be the most significant hack to the PS3 since Sony’s firmware update nearly six months ago. Back to the drawing board, Sony.
