Mark Hamill’s Retiring His Joker Voice

Perhaps one of the most enjoyable part of Batman: Arkham City, or any animated rendition of Batman since the early nineties for that matter, is listening to the brilliant voice acting of Mark Hamill as the Joker. Unfortunately, according to a Hamill tweet, this could be the very last time his voice will come out of the Joker.

Hamill has provided the voice of Joker for many an animated production since he first spoke as him in 1992’s Batman the Animated Series. That means there is an entire generation that knows little more than Hamill’s version of the Batman baddie. He reprised the role with Batman: Arkham Asylum and came back as an old, tired Joker.

You can see Hamill’s farewell to the character on his Twitter page. This isn’t the first time he’s said something like this, and the Joker seems like he might be a tough character to shake, so who knows what may happen. However, if this is the last time we here the Star Wars star in the Batman universe, he went out on one hell of a high note.
