NFL Blitz Returning in January for XBLA & PSN
Electronic Arts has revealed today that it plans on releasing an HD version of the classic NFL arcade game, NFL Blitz, this upcoming January.
The company says the game will be an updated version of the original game, with the addition of online multiplayer, to go along with its visual upgrade, and will be released via digital download on Xbox Live Arcade (1200 MS Points) and the PlayStation Network ($14.99).
EA promises to deliver the same gameplay and mechanics from the original game, which will run at 60 frames-per-second. The game’s online component will feature Blitz Battles for one-on-one or 2-on-2 matches in local, regional and worldwide games.
NFL Blitz will also carry with it the official NFL license, with all 32 teams and 31 stadium being featured in the game.
The single-player mode Blitz Gauntlet will pit players against a gauntlet of teams and fantasy character bosses, while the Elite League lets players create an ultimate team of players using collectible cards.
Tim Kitzrow and Brian Haley will provide the game’s commentary, and a Blitz Store will be added to allow for the purchase of additional content.
