While Apple tends to not like to embrace the video games market, some new patents may reveal that they are doing just that. After launching the Game Center last year in response to their iOS platform devices becoming legitimate platforms in the world of gaming, Apple may finally be ready to embrace their role in video games.

The two patents in question were filed in April and reveal an interface that will allow users to create avatars for the Game Center. The patent specifies that the avatars will not only be representative of profiles in the Game Center, but will alos be usable as in-game characters, similar to the integration of avatars seen on the Wii and Xbox 360. We’ll see where Apple takes this and what role the avatars will play in the future of games developments on iOS devices.
