We’re not sure what exactly is going on with Netflix, but we’re pretty sure that they don’t know either. After announcing the splitting of their company just over two weeks ago, today undid the Qwikster plan and instead will keep the red envelops going out with the “Netflix” logo on them.
In the long run, this is probably better for everyone, as it re-simplifies the process. Your DVDs and your streaming content is all back in the same place. Plus Netflix has snatched up the licence for Dreamworks and AMC, which means The Walking Dead is joining Breaking Bad and Mad Men on the instant watch list. To be honest, that alone is worth the cost of Netflix. They’re promising those costs will stay the same from here on out as well. We’ll see how long it takes for them to change their mind.
What most gamers are probably wondering, though, is if games will still be available for rental, as promised with Qwikster. There’s been no word yet, but there’s no doubt that Gamefly could use some competition. Personally, I think they’ll stick with it. Then decide not to. That’s just my guess though.
