Beta testers for DICE’s upcoming Battlefield 3 have expressed quite a bit of disappointment in the lack of vehicle support in the game thus far. And how can blame them? Why shoot people when you can run them over in a tank? To answer these questions, DICE’s producer for Battlefield 3, Patrick Lui, sat down with the Guardian and offered some explanation.
“We ran the alpha tests with a Rush map and we wanted to have some sort of reference so we could compare results – so we needed to have more-or-less the same map,” said Lui, who went on to explain that because of the tests, they ended up including only a non-vehicle map in the beta. Though if you’re playing on the PC, you’ll be able to hop into the Caspian Border this weekend and get behind the wheel of some vehicles.
