Just weeks after Gears of War set the year’s standard for launches, EA goes and tops it with the launch of FIFA 12. Apparently more people enjoy the world wide sport of soccer than the second most popular sport of shooting others in the face.
While the actual sales figures haven’t come through yet, EA did happily announce that they shipped 3.2 million sold-through units, which gave it the title for the year. All that means is that retailers have purchased 3.2 million copies, as that is how many they expect to sell. It’s all industry mumbo-jumbo for “we’re gonna be rich.”
Luckily, both FIFA 12 and Gears of War 3 are amazing games, so there’s no shortage of people buying great products at the moment. Who knows which game will be the next to go for the mark, with Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Batman: Arkham City, and Skyrim still waiting in the wings.
