Gamers Split on 3D Technology
Nobody tell Sony and Nintendo, but gamers aren’t really sure if they like 3D, according to a survey conducted by 2playr.com. According to the 1,001 gamers that responded to the survey, 51% opposed 3D technology being included in future console releases.
While just over half have no interested in 3D for their games, 47% would welcome it. This of course leaves 2% that thought there was only one D in the alphabet. Perhaps the more telling data from the survey was the fact that 73% of all surveyed opposed 3D television sets, citing impracticality as their main opposition. The 26% that were in favor of 3D games but opposed 3D television didn’t provide further information, presumably because they forgot where they were.
If 3D is the next big thing in gaming according to the industry, then game-makers beware: Your consumers may not be quite as responsive as you think.
