Remember when Sony decided that the Playstation Entertainment Network would just be an elaborate cover to keep people from suing them? As it turns out, Sony is just a copycat, because EA had a terms of service that forbade class action lawsuits before it was cool. It’s built into their Origin service.
This line of contract language hidden into the Origin TOS seems to becoming the trend in the tech world. AT&T has also used a similar strategy to prevent class action lawsuits. While it’s great to see Sony and EA at the forefront of innovation, this isn’t exactly what gamers are looking for. Maybe instead of protecting themselves from getting sued, they should do things that don’t make people want to sue them.
