Here’s some news that will come as anything but surprising to Blizzard fans: Diablo 3 won’t launch when initially planned. “While this news might not be a complete surprise, I know that many of you were hopeful that Diablo III would ship this year. We were too,” stated Blizzard president Mike Morhaime. The game is instead now set for a 2012 release.
Fear not, though, as you’ll still be able to get a little bit of your Diablo fix with the extended beta period that will invite more people to join as well. The full reason for the 2012 launch according to Mike Morhaime is, “ultimately, we feel that to deliver an awesome Diablo sequel that lives up to our expectations and yours as well. We should take a little more time and add further polish to a few different elements of the game.”
This shouldn’t cause too much of a commotion since Blizzard never actually set a date for the game to launch, just a time frame they were aiming for. If anyone is shocked by this, you’ve obviously never waited for a Blizzard game before. Luckily they pretty much only make solid products so the wait should be wortwhile.
