Nintendo 3DS Getting a Circle Pad Peripheral?

Rumors had been flying about what could be next for the Nintendo 3DS as Nintendo had announced a news conference, which takes place early next week.  Now it appears that we might have our answer in the form of a cradle peripheral that will add a second circle pad to the handheld.

Pictured above is a scan from Japanese magazine Famitsu, courtesy of Twitter user south1996, that shows off the proposed attachment.  Great for FPS games,  one would think, but how will gamers respond?

We should have more details on the attachment after Nintendo’s press conference so stay tuned.

I’m not sure how to feel about this add-on. Sure playing FPS games will be great now on the 3DS but was there really anyone begging for a second circle pad? Plus it makes the screen look off-centered with the add-on in place.

Interesting idea, but my feelings about this reside purely in the price. If it’s no more than $20, go for it. Otherwise, I have no interest. I’ll stick to the thumbpad/wristband they gave me with my DS. (This is all assuming that I end up getting a 3DS, which I probably will.)
