Limited Launch for Star Wars: The Old Republic?

by on August 19, 2011

Game Informer is reporting that EA is planning on limiting the amount of both retail and digital copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic upon its release, which as of today has no official date.

During a demo at Gamescom, an EA/Bioware representative told Game Informer that the reason for the decision of having a limited launch was based on the hopes of having smooth servers during the initial release of the game.

According to GI, the rep told them that EA plans to sell the game digitally until a certain number is reached.  At that point, EA will expand its server capabilities before allowing the game to be sold again.
