Steam offers From Dust Refund

One has to wonder if Ubisoft’s board of directors sat down recently and crafted a plan to piss off as many gamers as the possibly could. Steam must feel the same way, as they’ve spent much of today handing out refunds to irritated gamers who ran into more DRM than promised in Ubisoft’s From Dust.

It was originally announced by Ubisoft that the only DRM that their new “God” style game would have was a one-time activation code. As it turns out, the inclusion of UPlay requires the DRM. In essence, what Ubisoft had meant to say was “Uh, yeah actually you also can’t play it offline and here’s a nice dose of ‘go f*** yourself.” Then they laughed and rolled around in money.

If you’re one of the victims of this DRM mishap, you can request a From Dust refund by contacting Steam Support. Also while you’re at it, send Ubisoft your thoughts on DRM. Let them know if you think they’re bogging down quality product with unfair limitations. Or tell them that you support their extra measures of protection. Just don’t your gamer buddy as you’ll probably end up with a cracked skull and you can’t get a refund for that.
