In a report this is to be filed under “Um…why?,” it appears that Nintendo will be releasing a new model of the Wii that will be slimmer and less expensive than the current model. That’s right, the cheapest and thinnest of the current gen consoles is getting reduced in both categories again.
According to a Nintendo UK press release, the idea is to create a “streamlined Wii console with a slightly altered configuration.” The slightly altered configuration? No more Gamecube compatibility. I can’t see how this won’t be a huge hit! On the plus side, the console is now designed to sit horizontally rather than vertically, a complaint that gamers have been making since I just made up the complaint a minute ago.
No word on the price yet, but our guess is that it’ll be extremely cheap but only be available for purchase with Tanzanian Shillings.
