Mortal Kombat has officially paid its debts. After mild hesitation due to the latest installment falling under the banner of new publishers Warner Bros., the game has gone on to be quite the success. How well did it sell? The most recent figures indicate a figure rapidly closing in on the 3 million mark.
To put that in comparison with other fighters released this year, Marvel vs. Capcom has moved 2 million copies while Super Street Fighter 4 (the quickening) has been added to around 1.6 million libraries. Given that MK is the most recent release of the three, this installment has sold like gangbusters (to quote a certain someone).
No word on how much the promise of ripping a spine out of living human convinced gamers to buy Mortal Kombat, but the infamously gory game maintains a solid fanbase. What a return to glorious form after the nightmare that was Vs. DC Universe. Now don’t mess it up.
