Behold the future of computers. I am becoming more and more convinced that tablets will eventually (over the next ten years or so) replace laptops as the portable computer of choice for work and play. The current development of cutting edge apps for tablets is far more than a craze for touch technology; tablets are here to stay. Of course, the biggest advantage for laptops over tablets has been the ease of typing on a familiar keyboard, but not anymore. Logitech has announced the first of what will probably definitely be a wave of new products designed specifically for tablet, an all in one keyboard and tablet case. This gizmo is designed for the Samsung Galaxy Pad 10.1 (ipad users can get essentially the same product though, the Logitech Keyboard Case for ipad2), and has a keyboard on one side and a hard metal shell on the other. The tablet easily slides onto the keyboard for typing, and when you’re done you turn the keyboard over and snap it to the front of the tablet to act as a protective metal case. Finally. Laptops look out…there’s a more portable, soon to be more powerful wave approaching from the horizon. A wave of tablets. That wave will probably start to break around Christmas.
